The Oblate Youth Service (OYS) is a group of
young lay men and women who through their lives and
together as a group use their gifts to serve those in need
through the missionary spirit of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) and their founder, Saint Eugene de Mazenod.
Part of the Anglo-Irish Oblate Province, the OYS evolved in 1987 from what was then known as the "Overland Trip" on the annual Oblate pilgrimage to Lourdes. It maintains the commitment of the Oblate family to
living the motto of its family's founder, "He
(God) has sent me to bring the good news to the poor", but also has its own identity and mission of service to the poor
and sick.
